The three foundation sires of the modern Thoroughbred.

The Darley Arabian was one of three stallions that were the founders of the modern Thoroughbred horse racing bloodstock.

This Arabian horse was bought in Aleppo, Syria by Thomas Darley in 1704 and shipped back to England, where he stood at stud.

He was bred to private breeders but sometimes he was covering outside mares.

The Darley Arabian was of substantial beauty and refinement. The Darley Arabian sired Flying Childers.

Recent research found that in 95% of modern Thoroughbred racehorses, the Y-chromosome can be traced back to this single stallion.

The Second is the Godolphin Arabian

The Third is The Byerly Turk
