The Triple Crown

The Triple Crown is made up of 3 races

The Kentucky Derby

The Preakness Stakes

The Belmont Stakes

To win all of these races within such a short period of time makes a Triple Crown winner something very special.  So special that we haven’t had a Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.  At this rate I may die before I ever see a Triple Crown Winner!

In 2009 there was no Triple Crown Winner.  But Birdstone has a lot to be proud of.  This sire that stands at stud at Gainesway, in his first crop, has produced a Kentucky Derby winner in Mind that Bird and a Belmont Stakes winner in Summer Bird.

Not a bad year for Birdstone I’d say!
