One of the best Preakness Stakes Races I’ve ever seen!
Rachel Alexandra barely holds on to win over Mine that Bird!
The two horses are the real deal!
Did Rachel Alexandra take the Triple Crown Away from Mine that Bird?
Thrilling ride, no one got hurt and the finish was tremendous; proving Mine that Bird and Rachel Alexandra are the real deal. Tremendous horse race. Tremendous horses!

Borel jumps off of Mine that Bird and onto the back of Rachel Alexandra for the Preakness Stakes held May 16, 2009 .
Jockey Calvin Borel will ride filly Rachel Alexandra in the Preakness Stakes.
There has been talk around the barns that the small gelding, Mine that Bird’s, win in the Kentucky Derby was a fluke. I myself don’t believe in entering geldings in the Triple Crown. But that’s just me. And Mine that Bird did catch a sloppy track. Dunkirk and Freisan Fire both injured themselves leaving the gate or during the race. Lots of things to consider when thinking which horse to ride in the second leg of the Triple Crown.
If Calvin makes the right decision good for him. I would just like to see a terrific race and everyone come out of it without a scratch.
Here’s another wrinkle. As a May 10 foal, Mine that Bird was only 2 years old when he won the Kentucky Derby. Which I think is great. I don’t like horses that race as 2 year olds. They are still babies. Knees haven’t completely developed and hardly any Champion two year olds become Champion 3 year olds. It’s just too hard on their bodies.
